Frances W. Gurganus

Ms. Frances Whitaker Gurganus, 85, of 126 Harris St., Williamston, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Williamston House.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Roger Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Ms. Gurganus was born in Martin County on Aug. 22, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Joe Blount Whitaker and Ida Virginia Swain Whitaker. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Harrington of Williamston; two sons, Danny Gurganus of Edenton and Bobby Gurganus of Williamston; one sister, Ruth Whitaker Rogerson of Williamston; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
