Mr. Fred G. Floyd, Jr., 75, passed away early Thursday, August 14, 2008. He was the son of the late Fred, Sr. and Stella Giles Floyd. Mr. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Sonja Barrett Floyd; two sons, Fred G. Floyd, III, and John Floyd, both of Plymouth, NC; one daughter, Pam Troutman and husband Ronnie of Salisbury, NC; two grandchildren, Courtney Floyd and Lukas Troutman.
Mr. Floyd was an Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Scottish Rite. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Fred will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Coble Ward-Smith Oleander Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, DAV Memorial Program, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
