Mr. James Earl Blackledge Sr., 58, of 610 Aycock St., Washington, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Cornerstone Family Worship Center, Washington with Bishop James S. McIntyre Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mr. Blackledge was born in Beaufort County on March 30, 1950. He was the son of the late James H. and Mary Ida Bell Blackledge Daniels. He was a 1969 graduate of Washington High School. On July 9, 1970, he married Doris Moore Blackledge, who survives. He had been employed in the water and sewer department with the City of Washington. He was a member of Cornerstone Family Worship Center, Washington, where he formerly served as an usher and in the men’s ministry.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Laws of Mableton, Ga., and Crystal Blackledge of Washington; two sons, James Blackledge Jr. of Washington and Milton Blackledge of Marrietta, Ga.; five sisters, Schell Baldwin of Washington, Yvette Norman of Greenville, Pammie Lewis of Grimesland and Vella Macklin and Vanessa Wilson, both of New York; 11 brothers, Milton Blackledge of Denver, Colo., Larry Blackledge and James Wilson, both of Greenville, Michael Blackledge, Gregory Blackledge, Alonza Blackledge and Tyrone Satterthwaite, all of Washington, and Calvin Williams, Malcolm Williams, Ernest Williams and Joseph Williams, all of New York; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marcia Louise Blackledge and two brothers, Travis Daniels and David Daniels.
The family will receive friends at the home.
