Mr. Oliver W. Green, 75, formerly of Swan Quarter, died Saturday at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, N.J.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Reddick Missionary Baptist Church in Belhaven with Rev. James Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, U.S. Highway 264 East, Swan Quarter.
Mr. Green was born on March 12, 1933 in Hyde County. He was the son of the late George Nelson and Willie Gertrude Green. In 1951, he graduated from Hyde County Training School in Scranton. He did further studies at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro. He retired on November 26, 1995 from New York City Transit Authority as a bus operator. He was a member of the Ebony Rod and Gun Club. He was a member of The Church of God and Christ on the Hill in Brooklyn, N.Y.
On March 21, 1959 he was married to Shirley Fonville Green, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Deirdre Luster and Andrea Green of Manchester, N.J.; one brother, Oscar Green of Bronx, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
