Mr. Samuel Morning Gibbs, 78, resident of Britthaven of Washington, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at Britthaven.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Mount Hebron Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Elder Jerome Thompson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mr. Gibbs was born in Beaufort County on July 6, 1929 to the late John Gibbs and Idalia Rogers. He was employed as a custodian for Beaufort County Schools for 27 years prior to retirement. He was a member of Mount Hebron Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cotee Johnson Gibbs; two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors are: one step daughter, Doris Diane Williams (Ike) of Washington; three step grandchildren; two devoted nieces, Hallie G. Whitfield (Jerry) of Bath and Betty Mabery (Joe) of Greenville; one sister, Lina Brown (Elder Elnaam Brown) of Washington.
A walk in visitation will be conducted today 1-8 p.m. at the chapel.
The family will receive friends at the home of Hallie and Jerry Whitfield, 7329 East Highway 92, Bath.
