Mrs. Joanne Edwards Warren

Mrs. Joanne Edwards Warren, age 63, a resident of 11723 US Hwy. 17 South, Vanceboro, NC died at her home Monday August 18, 2008. Her family was at her side when her battle with cancer ended.
A funeral service will held 11 a.m. Friday August 22, 2008 at the Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Washington officiated by Father Bill Quigley. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Otto Florschutz, Douglas Edwards, Josh Edwards, Garland Edwards, Jr., Wayne Whitley and Chris Whitley will serve as pallbearers.
Joanne was born on April 4, 1945 daughter of the late Frank Edwards, Jr. and Ruby Dell Whitley Evett. She grew up in Beaufort and Pitt Counties and married the late Thomas Holt Warren, Sr. of Washington, NC. She is also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Holt Warren, Jr. and her daughter, Frances Darlene Warren. Joanne was a member of the Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. She was also a registered nurse and the recipient of Nurse of the Year at Pitt Memorial Hospital in 1993. She was a member of the Red Hat Society “Bodacious Babes” of Beaufort County and was involved with Girl Scouts as well as many community sports.
Surviving are her daughter: Selena and her husband, Billy Coltrain; her grandson: Tobby and his wife, Allison Wainwright; great granddaughters: Katelyn and Alyssa Wainwright; her brother: Garland and his wife, Toni Edwards; her brother: Keith Edwards; her sisters: Carolyn and her husband, Daniel Brice; Sheena and her husband, Robert Riggs and Melinda and her husband, Walter Murdock and her step-brother: Mitchell L. Evett. Also surviving are her brother-in-law: James Warren; her sister-in-law: Frances and her husband, Gary Williams; her sister-in-law: Jo Ann Banks.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 7-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends following the service until 9 p.m. and other times at the home.
