Mr. Johnnie Herbert Castello, 80, of 108 Bessie Lane, Windsor, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Lifecare in Rocky Mount.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Revs. Roger Kiker and Brian Medlin officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Ross Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Castello was born in Petersburg, Va., on Sept. 20, 1927. He was the son of the late Johnnie Quincy and Louise Mallory Castello. He was an Army veteran. He was married to Lou Evie Hoggard Castello, who survives. He retired from Champion International Paper. He was a member of Ross Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, treasurer of his Sunday school class and assistant song leader.
Survivors include three daughters, Bessie C. Jones of Merry Hill and Lorrie C. Jernigan and Susan C. Hoggard, both of Windsor; two sons, Herbert Castello of Colerain and Morris Castello of Windsor; and 11 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, and other times at the home.
