Mrs. Mary Hellen Woolard McRoy, age 73, a resident of 1042 Old New Bern Road, Chocowinity, N.C., died Sunday, September 7, 2008, at her home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by the Rev. Henry Horne. Pallbearers will be Donnie Woolard, Chris McRoy, Michael McRoy Jr., Donnie Brinson, Todd Alligood, Marty Alligood and Ricky McVicker.
Mrs. McRoy was born in Beaufort County on October 17, 1934, daughter of the late James Albert Woolard and the late Lucy Frances Alligood Woolard. She married Linwood Oslen McRoy on January 18, 1951, who survives. Mrs. McRoy was a homemaker and a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of Chocowinity.
Surviving along with her husband, Linwood, of the home are three sons, Michael McRoy Sr. and his wife, Ann, of Chocowinity, Gregory McRoy and his wife, Donna, of Chocowinity and Tracy McRoy of Vanceboro; three brothers, Arvie Woolard of Fayetteville, William Tommy Woolard of Washington and Billy Ray Woolard of Washington; four sisters, Marie Alligood of Washington, Truemella Woolard of Washington, Minnie Spain of Greenville and Betty Lou Sutton of Washington; four grandchildren, Lawanda Ann Brinson, Michael McRoy Jr., Chris McRoy and McKenna McRoy; a great-grandson, Dylan Brinson, and a great-granddaughter, Taylor McRoy. Mrs. McRoy was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Woolard, and a sister, Maebell Squires.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
