Mr. Larry “Boots” Stuart Byrum, 69, a resident of 1122 Cooper Lane, Jamesville, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Martin General Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Maple Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Jay Hardison officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Mizelle-Davis family cemetery on Cooper Lane.
Mr. Byrum was born in Bertie County on Aug. 11, 1939. He was the son of the late Ernest and Annie Lee Belch Byrum. He retired from the Army. He also retired from Hospital Corporation of America as a food-service director. He was a member of Maple Grove Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Cooper Byrum; two daughters, Dana Harris and Lori Barber, both of Jamesville; a sister, Frances B. Blanton of Windsor; four grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Grove Christian Church and other times at the home.
