Mr. Kelly Alligood

Washington, NC — Mr. Kelly Alligood, 86, of 85 Bright Road #2, Washington, died Friday, September 26, 2008 at Pungo District Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 29, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery with Tony Kranz officiating. William Watson, Kermit Alligood, Lane Alligood, Anthony Bonner, Mac Daniels and his grandson, Kelly Ray Alligood will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home.
Mr. Alligood was born April 5, 1922 in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Lyman Alligood and Maggie Woolard Alligood. On March 8, 1946, he married the former Bonnie Countryman, who survives. He was a WWII US Army veteran serving with the Wildcat 81 Division. He served in the Philippines on Angur Island and was among the first Army units to serve in occupied Japan. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie C. Alligood; his sons, Dwight Kelly Alligood of Atlanta, GA, Ricky Lyman Alligood of the home, and Harris Ray Alligood and his wife, Tammy Woolard Alligood of Washington; two half brothers, Jesse Alligood and Melton Alligood; two grandchildren, Kelly Ray Alligood and Melissa Dawn Alligood; two great-grandchildren, Joseph LeRay and Elizabeth Faye; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lewis.
