CHOCOWINITY, NC — Mr. Kenneth H. Higgins, 85, of Chocowinity, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Washington.
Mr. Higgins was born in Cass City, Michigan. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, landing on Omaha Beach. After World War II, he married Jacqueline Humble on August 4, 1948. Mr. Higgins graduated from General Motors Institute and spent five years with GM. He later went to work for Ford after being assigned there by the Air Force during the Korean War.
During his full life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. He was an avid boater and served as Commodore of the Isle Yacht Club in Punta Gorda, FL. He was also active in the U.S. Power Squadron.
Mr. Higgins is survived by his loving wife Jacque, daughter Shelly Rebholz and husband, John of Chocowinity, and daughter, Nikki Kight and husband, Roy of Washington. He has five grandchildren, Paul Rebholz, Scott Rebholz, Nathan Hogan, Ken Rebholz and Kerensa Hogan-Rhodes, and one step-granddaughter, Sherri McCall. Mr. Higgins also has four great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
