Mrs. Elsie Finch Cowan Thomas, 89, of 155 Aurora Road, Ernul died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Vanceboro, with the Rev. Bob Cayton officiating. Burial will follow in Kitt Swamp Christian Church cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas grew up at Burden Mill in Republican, in Bertie County. She was married to Eugene Edison Thomas, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Kitt Swamp Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Thomas of Vanceboro and Dennis Thomas of New Bern; one daughter, Judy Thomas Dudley of Askin; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, James Christopher Thomas; two sisters, Willie Maude Wetherington Rawls and Louise Alston and one brother, Thomas Cowan.
The family will receive friends today from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Vanceboro and other times at the home.
