Mr. Lawrence Linwood Blount, 70, of 285 Juniper Bay Road, Swan Quarter, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Cross Creek Health Care in Swan Quarter.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Swan Quarter, with pastor Levi Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, Swan Quarter.
Mr. Blount was born in Hyde County on Jan. 1, 1938. He was the son of the late Bennie and Meranda Fulford Blount. He attended the Hyde County Schools. On April 23, 1960, he married Victoria Cooper Blount, who survives. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Swan Quarter.
Survivors include five daughters, Patricia Shelton, Linda Cooper, Rosa Shelton, Carolyn Godard and Darlene Blount, all of Chocowinity; two sons, James Blount of Washington and Lawrence E. Blount of Chocowinity; one son-in-kind, James A. Blount of Swan Quarter; six sisters, Dessie Johnson of Belhaven, Bessie Murray of Swan Quarter, Lucy Brooks and Alice Gray, both of New York; Shirley Griffin of Elizabeth City and Patricia Clark of Raleigh; three brothers, Bennie Blount Jr. of Dover, Del., Glenwood Blount of Albuquerque, N.M., and Gene Blount of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence L. Blount Jr. and Billy McCabe and one brother, Willie Blount.
The family will receive friends at the home.
