Mr. Charlie M. Rogers, 75, of 2007 Holly Springs Church Road, Williamston, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008.
A graveside service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in Martin Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Candace Worth and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Ellis officiating.
Mr. Rogers was born in Martin County on Oct. 8, 1932. He was the son of the late Mildred Long and Eli Daniel Rogers. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. On Dec. 22, 1957, he married Shirley Hardison Rogers, who survives. He worked as a fiber line operator at Weyerhaeuser. He was a member of Roberson Chapel Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy R. Evans of Williamston and Charlene R. Whedbee of Greenville; four sisters, Violet Bowen of Williamston, Faye Lyle of Roper, Mary Mizelle of Jamesville and Carolyn Alexander of Plymouth; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children’s Home Society, Roberson Chapel Presbyterian Church, c/o Jesse Cowan, 5231 Wild Cat Road, Williamston, NC 27892 or a charity of one’s choice.
