Mrs. Betty Rose Sanders Potter, 63, formerly of 1435 Newlands Road, Fairfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Swan Quarter Baptist Church with Steve Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Potter was born in Elizabeth City on Oct. 9, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Edward and Cora Lee Hines Sanders. Due to the early death of her parents, she was raised by Bill and Mina Tillett in the village of Engelhard. She was married to Garnet Eric “Buddy” Potter, who preceded her in death. She worked with the U.S. Postal Service in the Fairfield Post Office for 21 years and one year for the county of Hyde in Swan Quarter prior to her retirement. She was a member of Swan Quarter Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth W. Potter of Swan Quarter; two daughters, Deborah P. Cahoon of Swan Quarter and Laurie Anne Potter of Bethel; one sister, Charlene S. Gill of Greenville and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to the American Heart Association or the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department.
