Mrs. Pauline Fredericks Winfield, 71, passed away on Thursday night, October 2, 2008 at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington, NC. Her long time companion, Dr. Anson Stage. was close by. Pauline attended St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, NC.
Born in Robe, IL, Pauline grew up in Huntington Beach, CA. A life-long learner and educator, Pauline specialized in English literature and language development. She created Winfield Academy in Beaumont, TX, an early education center with the reputation of being able to “teach a rock to read.”
She also taught at Taipei American School, Taipei, Taiwan. She was an excellent writer and contributed several articles to small publications and was an active member of whichever community she was in. She loved travel and did her best to visit as many places on this earth as she could.
Pauline is survived by two children, Christopher Joseph Winfield and Leslie Suzanne Winfield Jeffers, both of Texas. She also leaves a brother, Carl Leslie Fredericks of Middletown, MD and a sister, Dorothy Fredericks Campbell of Hilo, HI. She loved life.
