Betty Rose Sanders Potter, 63, formerly of 1435 Newlands Road, Fairfield died Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Elizabeth City, October 9, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Edward and Cora Lee Hines Sanders. Due to the early death of her parents, Mrs. Potter was raised by Bill and Mina Tillett in the village of Engelhard. She was married to Garnet Eric (Buddy) Potter, who preceded her in death. She worked with the United States Postal Service for 21 years in the Fairfield Post Office and one year for the County of Hyde in Swan Quarter prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Swan Quarter Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Swan Quarter Baptist Church. Steve Bryan will officiate and burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth W. Potter and his wife, Alison of Swan Quarter; two daughters, Deborah P. Cahoon and her husband, C.W., of Swan Quarter; and Laurie Anne Potter and her friend, Monica Manning, of Bethel; a sister, Charlene S. Gill and husband, Frank, of Greenville; grandchildren, Erica Cahoon, Gregory Potter, Charlie Cahoon and Kyle Potter. One niece, Jennifer Warren, husband Brian, and son, Ethan, all of Greenville.
