GREENVILLE— William Issac Sykes, 70, of 13 Holly Drive, Williamston, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday at St. John’s Baptist Church in Columbia with pastor Gregory Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at the church’s cemetery.
Mr. Sykes was born on Oct. 24, 1938 in Tyrrell County. He was the son of the late Clara M. Brickhouse and James I. Sykes. He was a logger.
Survivors include two sons, Johnnie Sykes of Columbia, Todd Sykes of Elizabeth City; four daughters, Valeria Sykes of New Jersey, Brenda King, Linda Ziglar, both of Winston-Salem, Kim Rodgers of Williamston; four brothers, James R. Sykes of Columbia, Charles Sykes of Edenton, William Sykes, Albert Sykes, both of Columbia; three sisters, Kathleen Spencer of Columbia, Effie Sykes of Currituck, Dora M. Hughes of Camden; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
