VANCEBORO — Daniel M. Lewis, 80, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at the home of his brother, Melton Olin Lewis.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Immanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Entombment will follow in New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis, a Craven County native, farmed for a number of years. Later he was employed with Bengal Sheet Metal retiring after 30 years or more of service. Mr. Lewis was a member of Immanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church, formerly Heritage Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a member of Woodman of the World. He was a good and faithful servant to his Lord and enjoyed gospel music.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Whitford Lewis and a daughter, Chelsa Marie.
He is survived by his: sons, James M. Lewis and wife, Leanne, and Clifton L. Lewis and wife, Ida, all of New Bern; sister, Madeline Chandler; brother, Melton Olin Lewis and wife, Shelva Jean, all of Vanceboro; granddaughter, Sandy Lewis; and special niece of “Grasshopper”, Chelcie aka “Frog”.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro.
