Mr. Matthew Cary Goldberg, age 16, a resident of 202 James Lane, Chocowinity, died Monday, November 3, 2008 at Pitt Co. Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Johnny Anderson. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Steve Millar, John Millar, Jesse Ray Tetterton and Justin “Weasel” Moore will serve as pallbearers.
Matthew was born in Pasquotank Co. on November 25, 1991 to Eric Martin Goldberg and Lori Millar Goldberg. Matthew was born with very special needs. He was a happy child who brought much joy to many, especially his mother and twin brother. Many special people were involved with Matthew throughout his life and he was loved by them all. Matthew especially adored his personal care workers who cared for him daily over many years.
Survivors include his mother, Lori M. Goldberg and her fianc/e, Gerald Elks of the home, his father and stepmother, Eric and Cathy Goldberg of Maryland, his twin brother, Michael Goldberg of Chocowinity, one half-brother, Phillip Goldberg of Maryland, two step-brothers, Jesse Ray Tetterton of Washington, Louie Prezzi of Maryland, three step-sisters, Tia Tetterton of Washington, Tiffany Tetterton of Winterville, Mary Prezzi of Maryland, paternal grandfather, Harold Goldberg of Maryland, beloved friend, Gerald Elks of Chocowinity, grandparents, Dalton and Shirley Elks of Chocowinity, three uncles, Steve Millar and wife Eva of Chesapeake, VA, John Millar of Norfolk, VA, Phil Elks, and two aunts, Sharon Housley and Donna Pittman. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Preston and Phyllis Millar and his paternal grandmother, Phyllis Goldberg.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home 202 James Lane, Chocowinity.
