Mary Short Brooks Archbell, age 97, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008 at home surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, NC with Father Ray Souza officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, NC.
She was born October 4, 1911 to Edward J. Brooks and Elizabeth Marsh Short Brooks in Bath, NC. With the exception of the last few years due to her health, she lived there her whole life. She was the widow of James C. Archbell, Sr. A dedicated wife, loving sister and aunt, she leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Clara Brooks Tarkelsen and husband, Arnold of Norfolk, VA, nephew, Robert J. Hassell and wife, Donna of Shrewsbury, NJ and their children, Robert M. Hassell and wife, Katie of Dublin, Ireland, Kathryn B. Hassell of New York City and Anne E. Hassell of New Jersey, niece, Patricia S. Hassell-Garris and her husband, John of Virginia Beach, VA and niece, Tany C. Hassell of Virginia Beach, VA and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank Maribel Lacson and Mila Tendilla for their loving care, as well as, the hospice staff of Heartland Health.
The family will receive friends at the family home, 106 S. Main Street, Bath, NC.
