Mrs. Edith Jeanette “Jennie” Richards, 68, devoted Christian, wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 12, 2008.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Edward Christian Church with Pastor David Linton officiating. Burial will follow in the Edward Christian Church Cemetery. Wayne Moore, Brandon Richards, Chad Richards, Dick Ackert, Daniel Moore and Marc Burke will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 14, 2008 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, and other times at the home, 106 Lake Drive (Macswoods), Washington.
Mrs. Richards was born October 3, 1940 in Tampa, FL. She was the daughter of the late Otis Lyle Tennant and Sara Patricia Taylor Tennant. She was a graduate of Hillsborough High School in Tampa, FL. On June 21, 1958, she married Frank J. Richards, Sr. She had been a resident of Beaufort County for forty two years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Richards was active for many years in the rehabilitation of wildlife. She also spent many hours as a passionate artist and gardener. She attended Edward Christian Church and Asbury United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Frank J. Richards, Sr.; one daughter, Sara Moore and her husband, Wayne of Hickory Point; three sons, Frank J. Richards, Jr. and his wife, Kriste of Campbell’s Creek (Aurora), Greg Richards and his wife, Phyllis of Aurora, and David Richards and his wife, Sarah of Washington; three sisters, Lianne Monteiro of Tampa, FL, Marty Davis of Seffner, FL and Sue Ackert of Fort Myers, FL; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
