Mrs. Frances Carter Hoggard, 84, of Windsor died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Three Rivers Nursing Home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Windsor United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Woolsey officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
Mrs. Hoggard was born in Northampton County on May 5, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Walter W. Carter and Chloe McDaniel Carter. She taught school with the Bertie County School System and later served as the Bertie County librarian. She was a member of the Windsor United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the choir.
Survivors include her husband, James F. “Zeke” Hoggard Jr. of Windsor; one daughter, Mary Lou Hoggard Brooks of Southern Shores; two sons, James F. Hoggard III of Windsor and Robert Hoggard of Merry Hill; two sisters, Mary Ellen Arney of Franklin, Va., and Louise Bland of Chesapeake, Va.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Windsor United Methodist fellowship hall today from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
