Patterson, Jeanne DuPree, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2008. She was a remarkably beautiful, intelligent, talented and thoughtful person, and left this life with the same lady-like graciousness and love with which she lived. She was born November 2, 1927 in Miami, Florida, daughter of Thomas O’Hagan and Isabel Morton DuPree. She attended Shenandoah Jr. High and graduated from Miami Sr. High. She was a graduate of Florida State University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and Village Vamps and where she met John Howell Patterson of Tallahassee. They married in 1949. She was President of the University of Miami Womens Guild and an officer of the Lighthouse for the Blind and the Womens Guild of the Miami Science Museum. She was a member of Beaux Arts of the Lowe Gallery and Cotillion Club. From 1979 to 2001, she was a Realtor-Associate at Cousins Associates, Merrill Lynch, Prudential and Jeanette Poole Realtors. She was also a certified paralegal. In recent years, she was a volunteer at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. She is survived by her husband John, their children Jeanne Patterson Rawlings of San Diego, CA, John Howell Patterson, Jr. (Jan) of Miami and Susan DuPree Patterson of Germantown, Maryland, and four grandchildren, John Howell Patterson III (Tanya), Charlotte DuPree Patterson, Patrick James Patterson and Rachel Carr Patterson. She is also survived by her sister, Ysobel DuPree Litchfield (John) of Washington, N.C., and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is pre-deceased by her parents, sister, Judith DuPree Ellison (Martin) and brothers, Thomas O’Hagan DuPree, Jr. (Sue) and William Morton DuPree (Lois). A private memorial service was held November 11, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the University of Miami-Dade Womens Guild Endowment Scholarship Fund, American Cancer Society of Miami, the Humane Society of Greater Miami or Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden.
