YEATESVILLE — Another strong defensive performance, coupled with a balanced scoring effort led the Seahawks to a 50-38 victory over the Panthers in the championship game of the PCS/Northside Tip-Off Tournament on Thursday.
Southside had eight players get into the scoring column, with five of them scoring five or more points to lead it to its second straight victory and a perfect 2-0 record.
The Seahawks rotated several players, and were led in scoring by starter Tamisha Credle who had 11 points, and Chante Painter, who came off the bench to score 10.
While the hustle was there for the Panthers (1-1), but the shooting touch wasn’t. Northside missed several free throws early in the game, which had them playing catch up for the rest of the night.
The Panthers got a fantastic effort from forward Rachelle Davis, who scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down several boards.
However, Northside struggled to find the right scoring balance that help propel Southside to victory.
The Panthers had only four players in the scoring column, with Melinda Paniagua finishing behind Davis with nine.
Hurricanes blow by the Lakers

Bell racked up 12 points and dished out several assists, with a majority of them going to Blount who scored a game-high 18 points for the Hurricanes (1-1).
