Mr. Custus Lee Perry III, 81, a resident of 3988 J.C. Galloway Road, Greenville, and a former resident of Washington, died Friday Nov. 21, 2008, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Mr. Perry’s home. It will be officiated by the Rev. Tom Newton.
Mr. Perry was born in Wilson County on June 21, 1927. He was the son of the late Custus Lee Perry II and the late Mary Paterson Perry. After high school, Mr. Perry served his country in the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. Following his military career he worked in maintenance with East Carolina University. Mr. Perry married the former Mary Paramore. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2005. He later married the former Irene Stallings on June 28, 2006. She survives. Mr. Perry was a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Washington, VFW Post 6088 of Washington and Salem United Methodist Church in Simpson.
Surviving along with Mr. Perry’s wife Irene of the home are a stepson, Norman Stallings of Greenville; a brother: Frank Perry of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Pat Hood of Norfolk, Va.; three step-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home following the memorial service.
