Mrs. Emily Jean Hodges Taylor, 71, formerly of Chocowinity, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Paul Funeral Home, Washington with the Rev. David Linton officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery. Steve Davenport, Phil Campbell, Carroll Berry, Donnie Harding, Jesse Taylor and Ricky Harrington will serve as pallbearers. Allen Boyd, Xavier Biggs, CD Harding and Craig Lee Taylor will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Pitt County on April 28, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Norman Mack and Mamie Paramore Hodges. On Oct. 25, 1962, she married A.D. Taylor, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of 15th Street Church of God.
Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Berry of Washington, Deborah Lee of Chocowinity and Shelia Taylor of Washington; four sons, Donald Grey Harding of Washington, Carl Dean Harding, Jesse James Taylor and Griffin Eugene Taylor, all of Chocowinity; three brothers, Jimmy Hodges and Junior Hodges, both of Chocowinity, and Bryant Hodges of Washington; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Penny Taylor; four brothers and three sisters.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home of her daughter, Deborah Lee, 230 Elks Lane, Chocowinity.
