William “Bill” L. Castellow

Mr. William “Bill” Layman Castellow died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Edgewood Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Cooper officiating.
Mr. Castellow was born May 14, 1926, the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Cola Castellow. He was a graduate of Georgia Military Academy. Following a year at Wake Forest College, he volunteered with the Marine Corps during World War II. He served in the 5th Marine Division and saw action on Iwo Jima. He graduated from Wake Forest College in 1949. He was first married to Lucille Harden Castellow, who preceded him in death. He later married Janice Todd Castellow, who survives. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Windsor.
Survivors include one son, Ben Layman Castellow; one grandson; one stepgrandson; one daughter, Margaret Harden Castellow and two sisters, Cecelie Ann Hill of Greensboro and Marion C. Perry of Colerain.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Cola Castellow.
The family will receive friends today from 4-6 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor.
