Mrs. Alma Woolard Johnson, 86, formerly of Corsica Road, Washington, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Beaufort County Medical Center, Washington.
In keeping with Mrs. Johnson’s wishes, there will be no services.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 18, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Chauncey and Bertie Woolard. She was married to Marshal Lynn Thurman, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Cahoon of Washington; five sons, Lynwood Thurman, Ricky Thurman and Wayne Johnson, all of Washington, Robert Taylor of Germany and Bill Fussell of Clayton; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joe Thurman; one sister, Goldie McRoy and two brothers, Fenner Woolard and Dick Woolard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, 112 E. Seventh St., Washington, NC 27889.
