Mrs. Louise Boyd Stoop, age 81, a resident of 1340 Van Dorp Road, Pantego, NC died Sunday December 7, 2008 at the Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday December 10, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Thelbert Leggett and Dalton Finch. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Clark Peele, Fred Howell, John Pittman, Robert Alligood, Gerald Allen and Eddie Boyd will serve as pallbearers. D.T. Andreoli and Lynwood Bowen will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Stoop was born at her Beaufort County home on February 14, 1927, daughter of the late Richard Zachary Boyd and Lula Marshall Boyd. She was a graduate of Pantego High School. Mrs. Stoop married Hank Stoop, Sr. on September 20, 1946 who preceded her in death on July 16, 1980. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant and bus driver with the Beaufort County Developmental Center and retired in 1995. Mrs. Stoop was a member of Long Acre Chapel Christian Church.
Mrs. Stoop is survived by two sons: Hank Stoop, Jr. of Pantego and Richard Stoop and his wife Ginger of Pantego; two sisters: Maxine Woodley and her husband Harold Lee of Creswell and Lula “Sis” Pittman of Pinto, MD; two grandsons: Brad Stoop and his wife Ashley of Windsor and Chad Hunter Stoop and his wife Leigh of Long Acre and two great granddaughters: Reagan Gray Stoop and Anna Lauren Stoop.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday December 9, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and at other times at the home.
