NICEVILLE, FL — Walter J. Arseneau, Jr., 85, died Saturday, November 29, 2008.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 13 at 11 a.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Walt was born in Milo, Maine to Walter J. Arseneau, of Milo and Leafey Farnsworth Arseneau, of Jonesport, Maine. He was raised primarily by his grandparents who were lobster fishermen and blueberry farmers. Walt grew up in the Jonesport/Luebec, Maine area. He had a business degree from the University of Maine and a Master’s in Education from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He died a lifetime Mason. Walt lived a full and colorful life. An aviation veteran of World War II, businessman, industrial union electrician/supervisor in various worldwide locations, NC public school retired educator, real estate agent in Washington, NC and a varied assortment of other jobs in his lifetime, there was very little he could or had not done. Comfortable in the company of Kings or Paupers, Walt could bag a quail from 60 yards and knew as much about fishing as anyone ever needs.
Married for the first time at 42, his wife Grace Elks Alligood Arseneau preceded him in death. Grace was a long-time resident of Greenville, NC and a well known RN supervisor and instructor at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Walt will be forever missed by his surviving:
stepdaughter, Rebecca Alligood Joyner and husband, Kenneth; grandsons, Major Mark Joyner and Kristopher Joyner; and great grandchildren, Skylar, Kelsey, Taylor, Bryce, Davis, Darla, and Grant.
