Mrs. Janice Furlough Swingle, 63, of Hertford, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, with pastor Stanley Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Swingle was born in Portsmouth, Va., the daughter of the late Woodrow W. Furlough Sr. and Frances Craddock Furlough Scott. She was married to Thomas W. Swingle, who survives. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Snug Harbor Community Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa P. Peterson of Hertford; one son, Del S. Potter Jr. of Hertford; four brothers, Richard W. Furlough of Pasadena, Md., Woodrow W. Furlough Jr. of Glen Burnie, Md., Floyd T. Furlough of Elliott City, Md., and Michael G. Furlough of Deruyter, N.Y.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry A. Potter; one son, Robert N. Frazier and one brother, Jimmy Furlough.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the home.
