Mr. Dennis Hubert Barber Sr., 78, of 26645 U.S. Highway 64, Jamesville, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Walker Funeral Home, Williamston, with the Revs. Greg Hornbuckle and Ron Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Dennis Barber family cemetery, Jamesville.
Mr. Barber was born in Martin County on May 1, 1930. He was the son of the late Dennis R. and Essie Mae Perry Barber. He served during the Korean War with the National Guard. He was a retired concrete installer and carpenter. He was a member of Gateway Pentecostal Holiness Church in Washington.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Irene Manning and Shelia Coffey, both of Williamston; three sons, Randy Wayne Barber, Dennis Barber Jr. of Jamesville and Harvey Gene Barber of Melbourne, Fla.; one sister, Ruth Jean Jones of Williamston; two brothers, Grover Barber of Williamston and Paul Barber of Charlotte; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Williamston and other times at the home.
