Mrs. Jacqueline T. Higgins, 84, of Chocowinity, left us Sunday morning at her daughter’s home to be with her Lord and husband, Ken.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, Washington.
Mrs. Higgins was born in Decatur, Illinois to Norma and Carl Humble. She graduated from Nursing School in Chicago and worked for the government during WW II. Following the war she met her future husband Ken after his return from Europe.
Jacque and Ken loved to travel, visiting all the continents, several of them more than once. She also loved boating. Her greatest love however, was for her husband, family and the Lord. She was active in the different Presbyterian churches, serving as a Deacon.
Jacque was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken in September 2008 and her mother Norma in September 2007.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws Shelly and John Rebholz of Chocowinity and Nikki and Roy Kight of Washington. She has five grandchildren, Paul Rebholz, Scott Rebholz, Nathan Hogan, Kerensa Hogan-Rhodes and Ken Rebholz, and one step-granddaughter, Sherri McCall. Jacque also has four great grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the members of First Presbyterian Church and Cypress Landing, who have been so supportive during these times.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macular Degeneration Partnership, 8733 Beverly Blvd, #201, Los Angeles, CA 90048 or the First Presbyterian Church, Washington, NC.
