Mr. Milton “Mr. Buddy” Cox Sr., 83, of 471 Swindell Road, Pantego, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Beaufort County Alumni Association building, Pantego, with the Rev. Dr. Matthew Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Broad Creek Cemetery, Pantego.
Mr. Cox was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 8, 1925. He was the son of the late Mary Bell Dawson Cox and Ben Cox Sr. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was a Navy veteran. On Jan. 4, 1958, he married Mary Irene Griffin Cox, who survives. He had been employed with the maintenance department with the Beaufort County Schools.
Survivors include three daughters, Annie Slade of Pantego, and Mildred Windley and Eva Lodge, both of Washington; two sons, Elvy Jones and Milton Cox Jr., both of Moss Point, Miss.; one sister, Goldring C. Satchell of Belhaven; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Bell Cox Willoughby and two brothers, Ben Cox Jr. and Ernest Lee Cox.
The family will receive friends at the home.
The body will be placed in the alumni association building one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
