Mrs. Patricia Franklin Gertz passed away on January 9, 2009 at her residence in Washington.
Memorial services will be held in the Brown Chapel of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. with the interment following in the Chapel Gardens.
Pat was born in Charlotte, NC on February 25, 1947, daughter of the late Charles and Marianna Franklin. She was a 1965 graduate of Washington High School and attended Peace College. She retired from East Carolina University as the manager of the traffic department with over 30 years of service. Pat was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where she served as past president of the Episcopal Church Women, a member of the Altar Guild and taught Sunday School classes.
Survivors include her son, Richard Halle Gertz, III of Washington along with many cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Henry Blount Rumley, IV and her husband, Richard Halle Gertz, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 985, Washington, NC 27889.
