William C. “Bud” Ralph

Mr. William C. “Bud” Ralph, 85, of Columbia, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, with the Rev. Joseph Wynns officiating. Burial will follow in the Tarkington family cemetery.
Mr. Ralph was born in Pasquotank County, the son of the late Robert Lee and Annie Markham Ralph. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was married to Alma Dillon Ralph, who survives. He was a retired construction contractor.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda R. Cherry and Nan R. Hollie, both of Columbia, and Judith R. Nelligar of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, William R. Ralph and Steven V. Ralph, both of Columbia; one sister, Elizabeth R. Coward of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, Joseph R. Ralph of Norfolk, Va.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Effie R. Jankosy and Mildred R. Pellizzon.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the funeral service at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, and other times at the home.
