WILLIAMSTON — Peggy Joyce Gurganus Preston, 76, of 1361 Popular Point Road, Williamston, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Martin Memorial Gardens with Thomas Biggs officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
Mrs. Preston was born on November 28, 1932 in Martin County to the late Selma Cassel and Fate Gurganus. She was a homemaker and member of the Community Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Williams and Marlenea Copeland, both of Tarboro; one son, Ricky Whitfield of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Mary Lee Pierce of Oak City, Louise Speller of Windsor; two brothers, Edward Gurganus of Williamston, Curtis Gurganus of Scranton, Pa.; three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Mary Lee Pierce, 5008 Fort Branch Road, Oak City.
