Mr. Arthur C. Harris of 218 Baker Drive, Washington, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Duplin General Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. David L. Moore officiating.
Mr. Harris was born July 24, 1952, the son of Earl Harris and the late Carrie Mae Tucker Harris. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He served in the Army and Navy. He was married to Annie Marie Harris, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was a member of the usher board.
Survivors include one daughter, Yasmin Marie Harris of Orlando, Fla.; one son, William Harris of St. Louis, Mo.; five sisters, Floretta Hadley of Denver, Colo., Sarah Margaret Harris and Betty McDonald, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Georgia Harris of Youngsville and Glenda H. Moore of Raleigh; and four brothers, Earl Harris Jr. of Jersey City, N.J., Willie R. Harris of Baltimore, Md., Curtis Harris of New York, N.Y., and Jeffrey Harris of Suffolk, Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington, and other times at the home of his niece, Lavikina Grimes, 120 Brittany Place, Washington.
