Mr. Robert Earl Tyer Sr., 69, of 5599 Clarks Neck Road, Washington, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at the N.C. Burn Center in Chapel Hill.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville with the Rev. Dr. James O. Hagwood officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
Mr. Tyer was born in Pitt County on Oct. 28, 1939. He worked for the City of Washington utilities department for 35 years, retiring as superintendent of underground installation. On Dec. 13, 1961, he married the former Linda Perry, who preceded him in death June 20, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Tyer Jr. and Jeffery Wayne Tyer, both of Washington; three brothers, Edward Tyer, Elbert Tyer and Billy Tyler, all of Washington, and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home of his son, Jeffery Tyer, 5542 Clarks Neck Road, Washington.
