Mr. Robert Earl Tyer, Sr., age 69, a resident of 5599 Clarks Neck Road, Washington, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the N.C. Burn Center in Chapel Hill.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, conducted by Dr. James O. Hagwood. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
Mr. Tyer was born in Pitt County on October 28, 1939. He was the son of the late Isaac J. Tyer and Ruth Mae Manning Tyer. Mr. Tyer worked for the City of Washington Utilities Department for 35 years, retiring as Superintendent of Underground Installation.
On December 13, 1961, Mr. Tyer married the former Linda Perry, who preceded him in death, June 20, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Tyer, Jr. and Jeffery Wayne Tyer both of Washington; three brothers, Edward Tyer, Elbert Tyer, and Billy Tyer all of Washington; and two grandsons.
The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home of his son, Jeffery Tyer, 5542 Clarks Neck Road, Washington.
