Mrs. Janet Ross Kallen, 72, of 1253 Oakdale Drive, Williamston, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Martin Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Robbie Parker officiating.
Mrs. Kallen was born in Martin County on Aug. 2, 1936. She was the daughter of Pearl Griffin Ross of Williamston and the late William Thomas Ross. In 1961, she married Leonard Kallen, who preceded her in death in 1971. She was an educator for 50 years, 30 of which were in Martin County. She retired as the principal of Rodgers School. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday-school teacher.
Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Kallen Talley of Mechanicsville, Va.; two brothers, Griff Ross and Whit Ross, both of Williamston; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the home of Will Ross, 1060 Dixie Trail, Williamston.
