Mrs. Christine Harris Tankard, age 84, a resident of 110 N. King St., Bath, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2009, at Oakdale Cemetery and will be conducted by Rev. Ray Souza.
Mrs. Tankard was born in Beaufort County on November 20, 1924, to the late Lovick and Rosa Tetterton Harris. On February 17, 1952, she married Walter Bruce Tankard, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2005. She was a graduate of Bath High School, served as a clerk for the ABC Board of Beaufort County, managed the Bath Harbor Marina and was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, where she had served as a docent.
Survivors include her son, Robert Tankard, his wife, Susan, and their children, Hayden and Madison, of Bath; her daughter, Chris Smith, and her children, Sloan and Carter, of Bath; and her brother, L.P. Harris, and his wife, Margaret, of Bath.
Mrs. Tankard was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Ann Tankard, and a son, Walter Bruce Tankard, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington prior to the graveside service.
