Mr. Leslie “June Bug” Spencer Jr. of 130 Parkview Drive, Washington, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Hebron Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Elder Jerome Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield &Whitley Cemetery.
Mr. Spencer was born Sept. 30, 1934, the son of Leslie Spencer Sr. and Lena Green Spencer. He attended the Hyde County Schools. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), where he was a member of the choir.
Survivors include one daughter, Margie Roberson of Washington; four sisters, Annie Howard and Gladys Dupree, both of Greenville, and Katie Bailey and Jamie Moore, both of Washington; two brothers, Levi Spencer of Jacksonville, Fla., and Earl Green of Rocky Mount and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington, and other times at the home of his daughter, 327 W. Ninth St., Washington.
