Mr. Patrick Hartwell Mitchell Jr., 83, of 334 Hoggard Mill Road, Windsor, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Bertie Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Edgewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Bertie County on June 9, 1925. He was the son of the late Patrick Hartwell Mitchell Sr. and Elizabeth Leggett Mitchell. He was married to Wardrey Mitchell, who survives. He was a logger and worked with Lea Lumber Co. for 33 years and Johnny Pierce Logging for 10 years. He was a founding member of Edgewood Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include one son, Allen Mitchell of Wendell; one daughter, Lydia Mitchell Hoggard of Windsor; one brother, George B. Mitchell of Windsor and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Barnes.
