As a kid, Brandon Niederhauser sat in the bleachers and watched as his brother Galen smashed numerous school records.
For years, Niederhauser glouted that one day he’d be chasing down Galen’s school records.
Now, the Pam Pack sophomore is making good on his word.
Earlier this year, Brandon Niederhauser swam the 50-yard freestyle race in 23.03 seconds to break his brother’s Pam Pack record.
A couple weeks ago, the younger Niederhauser established the 50-freestyle record once again, as he blistered the field at the Coastal Conference Championships to win the event in 23.00 seconds.
Niederhauser had to miss several events earlier in the year after breaking his arm during a junior varsity football game.
But according to Pake, the injury didn’t phase the Pam Pack star.
Niederhauser bounced back from his arm injury to win conference champioships in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races.
Last Saturday, Niederhauser continued his stellar season with a fifth place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and a seventh place finish in the 50-yard freestyle event at the 2009 NCHSAA Class 3A East Region Swimming &Diving Championships.
He was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that took fifth and the 400-yard freestle relay squad that took seventh.
His coach believes that the 100-freestyle record will go down sooner rather than later.
