While Washington’s basketball teams will be on the road, Northside High School will be buzzing with activity next week as the school is the host site for the Atlantic Conference tournament.
Both Pam Pack basketball teams are the No. 7 seeds for next week’s Coastal Conference tournament, which tips off Monday.
Coach Joe Lawrence’s Pam Pack boys (8-13, 2-12) will visit the No. 2 seed D.H. Conley Vikings (20-2, 12-2). Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Vikings won both regular season games this year.
Conley, which handed South Central its first conference loss in the final regular-season game of the year, took a 67-63 win in the first meeting. Jaron Lane and D.J. Weaver had 17 apiece for the Vikings.
Jarees Griffin paced the Pack, which has lost eight straight, with 23 points.
It was all Conley in the second meeting. Using runs of 15-0 in the first half and 20-0 in the second, the Vikings cruised to a 70-46 victory. Lane had 26 points to lead all scorers.
Griffin had 18 for the Pack.
Coach Allison Jones and her Lady Pam Pack (9-12, 4-10) will visit No. 2 seed Havelock (17-6, 11-3) in a 6 p.m. game Monday.
The two teams met Tuesday in Havelock, with the Rams pulling away for a 60-41 win. Hayley Stowe had 16 points and Jordan Cantrell 11 to pace Washington.
The Rams got 18 points from Melissa Thomas and 12 apiece from Kelley McCaffity and Alyssa Luebs.
