Mrs. Florida M. Moore, 79, resident of 349 Bonnerton Rd. (Bonnerton Community), Aurora died Sunday Feb. 15, 2009 in Raleigh.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday Feb. 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Moore’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Clinton Anderson, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Moore’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore was born in Beaufort County March 16, 1929 to the late Alfred G. Moore and Nicey Ann Moore. She attended the Beaufort County Schools and Beaufort Community College nursing program. She was employed with National Spinning and Beaufort County Hospital prior to declining health.
She was a member of Moore’s Chapel MB Church where she served as Mother and youth advisor. She was a member of Unity Chapter #566 Order of Eastern Star and Busy Bee Senior Citizen Club of Bonnerton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivory S. Moore, Sr.; children: Baby Jean, Archie Lee and Ervin R. Moore; siblings: John L., Ernest P. and Israel Moore.
Survivors are: five sons, Ivory Moore, Jr. (Sandra), Bernard Moore, Sr. (Frances), Daniel Moore (Mary), all of Edward, John Ponds (Monica) of Williamston, Carlton Littlejohn of the home; six daughters, Mary M. Washington (Michael), Sadie Moore (Eugene), Carstella M. Greer (Tony), all of Temple Hill, Md., Velma M. Kelly (Arthur) of Alliance, Angela M. Little (Dennis) of Raleigh, Corena Moore of the home; one sister, Martha Bynum of Aurora; 41 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren.
A walk in visitation is scheduled for Friday 1-6 p.m. at the Whitfield &Whitley Chapel.
Final viewing will be conducted at the church Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
