Mr. Clarence Elester Taylor, 94, of 2584 Windmill Road, Chocowinity, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Clay Bottom Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Leroy Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Clay Bottom Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor was born in Beaufort County on Jan. 2, 1915. He was the son of the late James and Melvina B. Taylor. He attended Beaufort County schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Moore and Deloris Slade, both of Chocowinity; one son, Curtis Haywood of Chocowinity; one sister, Lillian T. Thompson of Chocowinity; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lila T. O’Neal.
The family will receive friends today from 5-6 p.m. at Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.
