Howard E. Mills

GREENVILLE — Mr. Howard Earl Mills, of the Black Jack community, passed away at the age of 69 on February 27, 2009 with his family by his side after battling a prolonged lung disease. He fought a good fight to the end and now is at peace with the Lord.
The funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2nd, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. at Wilkerson’s Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Linwood Manning. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Howard, son of the late Barney and Ruth Mills, attended Chicod High School, Served in the U.S. Army, the National Guard and the Merchant Marine. He worked with Ford Motor Company in Virginia, Nashville Wire Products, and later owner and operator of Mills Electrical Service in Hartsville, TN.
Howard will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor. He loved to laugh and be with his family and friends. He loved gospel and country music. He could play a few chords on the guitar even though he only had 2 fingers on his left hand.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mills was preceded in death by his two brothers, Raymond T. Mills and Barney Jay (BJ) Mills both of Greenville. He is survived by four sisters
Irene Mills and husband Ottis of Chocowinity,
Hazel M. Harris and husband Elvin of Greenville,
Patsy M. Neal and husband Earl of Chesapeake, VA,
and Marjrie M. Grizzard, wife of the late Joe Grizzard, Washington, NC,
sister-in-law, Brenda Mills, wife of the late Raymond Mills, Greenville and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30 at Wilkerson’s Funeral Home.
